Naturopathy v/s Allopathy: Facts Worth Knowing

Naturopathy

“Yat pinde tad brahmande”, which connotes that our body (Pinda) is made of similar elements to that of the universe (Brahmanda)- the five elements named as Space (Aakash), Air (Vayu), Fire (Agni), Water (Jala), and Earth (Prithvi). In general, the discomfort the body is the result of deviation in any of these elements.

Allopathy

Allopathy is the medical system that works against the body’s own mechanisms. For any discomfort or diseases, they look for a physical entity as the causative organism/body. Without the presence of any physical element, they will only blame it on the psychotic level and advise to make some lifestyle changes based on the condition.

Diagnosis and Treatment Plan

Naturopathy

Naturopathy is alleged to be the functional medicine. If you have ever visited a naturopathy practitioner then you must have noticed their process of diagnosis by detailed history taking, symptomatology, and test conduction. Only when they have made your body’s personalized touchstone, they make you a customized treatment plan fitted solely for your body type. It works on eliminating the root cause of the disease.

Allopathy

Allopathy on the other hand is a conventional method. In this form of practice, the practitioner looks for the causative pathogen either on the basis of symptoms or by running tests to draw a line of treatment. No matter how many patients have the same disease, the same treatment plan will be introduced for a variety of people. They offer symptomatic treatment only in accordance with a physical entity or pathogen.

Naturopathy

Naturopathy follows the “Like cures like” strategy. As stated above, according to naturopathy, any disease or discomfort is the result of deviation in one of the five principal elements. Since human body comprises of natural elements, therefore, they will be treated by the entities with the same fundamental structure like water (Hydrotherapy), Sun (Helio therapy), Soil/Mud (Mud therapy), Air (Oxygen therapy), natural food with herbs and spices, etc. with slim to none side effects. The spectrum for treatment in naturopathy is much wider than our scope of apprehension.

Allopathy

Allopathy usually relies on pharmaceuticals, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and surgery. It works against the body’s mechanisms. The advantage of rapid recovery comes with a high cost of side effects.

The strategy against diseases

Naturopathy

We have always heard that “Prevention is better than cure”. Naturopathy works on the strengthening of one’s immune system naturally by offering a healthy lifestyle and dietary habits. People with a strong immune system are less likely to be caught off guard by any harmful disease-causing agents thus contributing to a physically healthy life. Similarly, a healthy lifestyle offers mental and spiritual well being. In short, the strategy here is to block the enemy outside the boundaries. And if the enemy is so strong as to cross the line of defense, its natural cure therapy allows the body to heal by itself making it stronger than ever.

Allopathy

Allopathy only comes to use when the disease has started showing its effects on our body showing various symptoms. It only relies on the cure of disease by pharmaceuticals and other options whereas preventive strategy is less likely to be seen in this medical system.
