Summer Skincare Routine and Tips

Summer can be very challenging for our skin health. Without a proper skincare regime, our skin can be easily damaged by this scorching heat.

So, here is a basic skincare routine for you. Choose according to your skin type.

Daily skincare routine

Day time:

  • Wash your face twice a day:

Choose a gentle face wash with ph(5-7) and use it twice a day (at night and morning).

Dry skin: Choose a creme base face wash

Normal- combination skin: Choose a gel-based face wash

Oily skin: Choose a foaming face wash.

  • Use an alcohol-free toner:

Use a hydrating alcohol-free toner to avoid dehydration. Also, to treat any skin issues, use active-infused toners.

Dry skin: Hyaluronic acid or glycerin-based toners.

Normal-combination skin: PHA toners

Oily skin: Salicylic acid-based toners.

  • Never skip moisturizer:

Moisturizing is essential in any season, irrespective of your skin type. Moisturizing helps to maintain a healthy skin barrier.

Dry skin: choose a thick cream-based moisturizer.

Normal-combination skin: choose a liquid base moisturizer.

Oily skin: choose a gel or water-based moisturizer.

  • Sunscreen is skin’s BAE:

Sunscreen shields your skin from heavy UV rays. Choose a high SPF, at least with SPF 30 and with PA+++ or more. For adequate protection, accurately one-half tablespoon of sunscreen should be applied to the face. For more accessible application, take two strips of sunscreen on your first two fingers for the face or other body part. You can choose between physical or chemical sunscreen according to your preference.

Nighttime

The first two steps will be the same as daytime skincare. As our skin comes to the repair stage at night, this is the best time to include any serum or treatment. Treatments are basically for targeting a particular skin problem. Such as,

For acne: choose salicylic acid or niacinamide serum.

For pigmentation: choose vitamin c or alpha-arbutin serum.

For fine lines: choose retinoid or retinol serum.

After treatment, complete your nighttime skincare with your usual moisturizer.

Weekly pampering

Weekly skincare includes exfoliation and face masking.

  • EXFOLIATION:

Exfoliation is essential to remove all the dead skin cells weekly.

Also, avoid using harsh exfoliators like walnut or apricot-based. It may make your skin excessively dry.

Homemade scrub recipe:

Take a tablespoon of almond oil, a teaspoon of granulated sugar, and mix it well. Apply gently on your face and massage with your fingertips lightly. Wash it off after 20 mins.

  • FACE-MASK:

After exfoliation, a face mask is essential to rejuvenate and hydrate the skin.

Homemade face mask recipe:

Blend a tablespoon of gram flour with two tablespoons of curd until the consistency of the mixture becomes smooth. Put on the face mask and leave it until it becomes semi-dry.

Lastly, complete your weekly pamper routine with toning and moisturizing. If you are following this routine in the daytime, then don’t forget to apply SPF.
